Breast cancer is the second deadliest cancer.
BUTÂ it has the highest survival rate if caught early.
Therefore early detection is the closest thing to a cure.
Self chec, in partnership with gyro and Startup Institute, are asking attendees to come up with innovative tools to help women learn and adhere to an effective self-examination schedule.Â

WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Hackers who can code in web/app/mobile game development, designers, U/X, behaviorists, engineers, product/project managers, healthcare or health-tech professionals.Â
This is a female focused hackathon but, just like breast cancer,Â
men are a part of this too. We look forward to seeing all of you!
WE WANT YOUR IDEAS!
If you have already bought your tickets, read the brief and understand the challenge, post your ideas here for all to see and be inspired so we can get hacking as soon as we start on Friday! Â
The winning team will gain automatic acceptance to the Bench-to-Bedside Initiative (BBI) Program this Fall. BBI unites professionals and affiliates of Weill Cornell Medical College, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Institute and Rocketfeller University to translate scientific ideas into commercial products that can benefit patients.
The API list is here
Tweet your product ideas and concepts to @CodersVsCancer to spark everyone's minds before the hacking commences!
We recommend forming groups of 4-5 before the event. Teams that come together tend to stay together. Since the winning team will receive prizes to help realize your projects' full potential, we want to make sure teams stick together to see their creations through.Â
Not all team members have to code, in fact we recommend U/X and design members to make the most viable and presentable concept. But there must be enough coders on each team to ensure you can make something in the time given.
For those without teams, they will form during Friday's initiation.
A discounted, team ticket is available.
And if you'd like to try to form a team before hand, a google spreadsheet with all hackers looking is here.Â

- You Don't Have To Be In NYC -
We Have Team Tickets for Offsite Hackers!
For those not available to attend the event in NYC, we do allow hacking to be done off-site with a video presentation due at 12:45 on Sunday for QA. Sorry no individuals off-site, just teams.
